This 2 and half hour walk I was the Lead Guide.
We left camp and started to identify some tracks as we hadn’t heard of any “potentially dangerous game” near to camp at this time. I took us on a walk along the edge of the property and eventually reached a sodic site on a nearby property. This sodic area is slowly expanding because it’s not being managed correctly. I compared this site to a managed one nearby and talked about the ecological importance of these areas, and how they can get out of hand if caused unnaturally and are unmanaged and therefore the need to manage them. This conversation then lead onto migration routes and water dependency as this can affect sodic areas. This lead onto a discussion about the history of Kruger National Park.
